Frequently Asked Questions

Are there other pets in DogMa homes?

Because we are animal lovers, our DogMas have pets of their own. Because we are a team of skilled pet care professionals, our services are in high demand. Both of these mean that there will be other pets in a DogMa home. Our process thoughtfully matches your pet(s) with well-suited DogMa and home environment. While your own dog may not live with other pets, our loving homes prioritize the comfort of your furry family members and care for them as our own.

Will you train my dog?

While our team of DogMas are all experienced handlers and pet care professionals, we are not certified trainers. When your pup is in our care, they become part of the family. This means that we offer love, compassion, and guidance just like we offer our own resident and foster pups. We also ask the same things of your pup that we do our own - patience at thresholds, house manners, and appropriate communication. We work on these and other skills while your pup is in our care, but not set up to offer more extensive training.

Is the daily rate for overnight boarding for 24 hours of care?

No. The daily rate covers from check-in (when you need us to pick-up your pup) through 11AM the next day. Any time after our 11AM checkout time is billed as an additional day.

Do you provide round the clock care?

While your pup is in our care, we provide meals, medications, plenty of enrichment, loads of snuggles, and cozy spots to sleep. Our services are not 24/7 supervised care; our team of DogMas continue their daily routines while caring for your pup. This is why we are very thoughtful in pairing your pup with a DogMa best suited to offer the type and level of care that is right for your pup.

How do you vet your DogMas?

Our team is built solely through connections and referrals, ensuring that we are professional and tight-knit team, providing support to each other in the care we provide to your pup. Each DogMa and DogPa completes an interview, onboarding and ongoing training, and has a background check. We ensure any new team member would be trusted in our own homes, with our own residents before they ever would be caring for your pup. Our team is fully insured and bonded for your peace of mind as well.

Will I get to visit my DogMa’s home?

Our top priority is the safety and wellness for each and every pup in our care, which means keeping our home environments safe, loving, and low stress for everyone present. Having new people and dogs coming in and out of our homes can be very stressful for the dogs going through those transitions; therefore, we do not allow clients to enter our DogMa homes for the safety and wellbeing of our guest and resident pups. Your DogMa can offer a virtual tour of their home upon request.

When we bring a new pup into our home, DogMas have a very intentional introduction process to ensure all pups meet at their own pace, and with appropriate communication. This leads to a safe, harmonious environment, and sets everyone up for a wonderful stay.

Do I pay my DogMa directly?

Our Billing team handles all invoicing, so you never need to worry about rates and payments with your DogMa. Your invoice will come to the email address we have a file, and can be paid electronically via checking account or card.

Is it customary to tip?

Our team never expects any gratuity, but we do love to hear about your experience with them!
